Former Dutch professional football player, Robin van Persie, is best known for his formidable skills as a sticker for the Netherlands national team, but also Premier League teams Arsenal and Manchester United. He is often regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation and is the Netherlands national team biggest goal scorer of all time.
Having started out in the Youth teams of Excelsior and Feyenoord, Robin quickly progressed to the National Youth team, Netherlands U17, U19, U21. It wasn't long before he joined the Senior teams , and was quickly identified as “one to watch”. In 2002, he was named the Dutch Football Talent of the Year after his senior debut victory in the 2002 UEFA Cup, and by 2004 he had transferred to English club Arsenal where he made a staggering impact, even becoming captain of the squad for the 2011-12 season.
One of his most notable career highlights that many would agree, was the stunning leaping header that lead to the knock out of reigning World Cup Champions, Spain, in the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This goal is widely identified as one of the most astonishing moments in World Cup history and was nominated for the FIFA Puskas Award 2014.
An internationally renowned and beloved striker, Robin has been involved or influenced some of the biggest wins in footballing history. He has achieved over 100 caps and has scored more than 50 goals for the Netherlands, making him one of the most prolific strikers in recent years.
