Gary Foote is a senior technology and transformation leader operating at the very highest level of global motorsport. As Chief Information Officer at Haas F1 Team, and now Chief Information Officer at GM Performance Power Units for the Cadillac Formula 1 programme, Gary has helped shape the digital backbone of elite racing organisations competing on the world stage. Across a career spanning more than two decades, he has contributed to six Formula 1 World Championship titles, supporting legendary drivers including Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button.
Gary’s journey through Formula 1 includes pivotal roles with Brawn GP, Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team and Haas F1. At Brawn GP, he was part of the team that secured the remarkable 2009 World Championship victory. During his time at Mercedes, he supported consecutive championship wins in a period that redefined performance standards in the sport. These experiences placed Gary at the centre of high pressure, high consequence decision making, where technology, data and teamwork determine success by fractions of a second.
At Haas F1, Gary served as Chief Information Officer and Director of Sustainability, leading digital transformation from the team’s inception. He built and scaled global IT and operational infrastructures across the UK, US and Italy, overseeing multi million pound budgets, complex governance structures and cross functional teams. His remit extended beyond technology into ESG strategy, facilities, continuity and commercial support. Recognised as a five time CIO 100 UK honouree from 2021 to 2025 and a Fellow of the British Computing Society, Gary combines technical depth with strategic leadership at board level.
Beyond the circuit, Gary is a passionate advocate for STEM education and diversity in engineering. He serves as a Trustee and Non-Executive Director at Tove Learning Trust, advising on strategy, risk and governance across multiple schools. He also mentors young students through robotics programmes, helping them build confidence alongside technical skills. On stage, Gary translates the intensity of Formula 1 into practical lessons on leadership, innovation, resilience and sustainable growth, giving audiences a clear blueprint for building winning cultures in their own organisations.
