What makes this motivational speaker’s career so interesting is that he rarely played for more than one season at any club. He also won just the one cap for the England under-21 team that managed a goalless draw against Wales in 1990.
When he was on loan to Bolton Wanderers in 1989, Nigel made just five appearances, six in 1993 when on loan to Grimsby Town, four in 1995 when on loan to Watford, none later that year when on loan to Coventry City and three when he was on Ilkeston Town’s books between 2004 and 2008 (where he was player-manager). The last team that Jemson played for was Rainworth Miners Welfare in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.
Nigel’s main claim to fame is scoring the only – and the winning – goal in the 1990 League Cup Final when Nottingham Forest beat Oldham Athletic. The motivational speaker’s other career highlight was when he scored both goals for Shrewsbury Town in the 2003 FA Cup third round when his team knocked out an Everton side which had a young Wayne Rooney in its squad.
