Jessica Sansom is the Sustainability Director at Huel, where she is responsible for the design and implementation of a sustainable nutrition strategy for the organisation. An expert on all things related to sustainability, the environment, corporate social responsibility, and sustainable nutrition, given her illustrious career, Jessica is creating ripples in the industry. Jessica possesses a BSc in Environmental Science and Law from The Australian National University and later pursued a Master’s in Environmental Law from the University of Sydney. Heavily invested in the environment and its impact, Jessica started out her career as a Research Officer at the National Farmers’ Federation, studying the impact of climate change on Australian agriculture. She then worked as a Greenhouse Action Plan Programme Officer for the Australian Government.
Shifting gears into the consumer goods space, Jessica has worked at some of the biggest organisations including McDonald’s and Innocent Drinks. In 2001, she joined as the Environment Manager for UK at McDonald’s and over the next five years, worked her way to being the Sustainable Supply Manager of McDonald’s Europe. Making her name as Head of Sustainability for Innocent Drinks, Jessica was able to introduce ethical environmental practices to the supply chain processes and business models that helped the company evolve.
Jessica’s efforts throughout her career have been recognised and she has won several accolades including the Guardian Sustainable Business Award, the ASDA Sustainable Brand Award, the Rainforest Alliance Frog award, and the Community Big Tick Award. Named one of the 100 Leading Environmentalists in UK by Forbes, she is also a seasoned speaker. Her keynote speech at the European Startup Festival of 2020 and several others she has delivered is testament to her skills as a speaker.
