Kate Wylie is a leading figure in ensuring that the world is a more sustainable place. Currently working with major consumer goods company Mars, Kate is championing sustainable practises and taking a stance on poverty. Having formerly worked with companies such as eBay, Etsy and Barclays too, Kate has built extensive business management expertise and is now a favourite for keynote speaking at events. Passionate about sustainability, Kate covers topics such as sustainable supply chains, purpose lead business and sustainable development as a keynote speaker.
Currently, Kate is working as the Global Vice President of Sustainability for Mars and has already spearheaded the development of several of Mars’ major sustainability programmes. Formerly the Global Sustainability Director, Kate worked her way up the company to her current role and has worked on their packaging strategy and the Livelihoods Fund for Family Farming, an investment fund worth a staggering €120m. She has also worked to address poverty during her time with Mars, creating the Farmer Income Lab in the process.
Before forging a career in sustainability, Kate studied in economics at The University of Manchester. Graduating with a BA in Economics, Kate joined the working world with The Carbon Neutral Company. Finding a passion for sustainability, Kate then accepted the role of Global Citizenship Manager for eBay. In this role, Kate began to develop her expertise in creating sustainability programmes and pioneered the sustainability strategy for eBay. Kate has also formerly worked as an Advisory Board Member for the Sustainable Food Lab, a Business Fellow of the University of Oxford and a Freelance Sustainability Consultant for companies such as Barclays and Etsy.
Currently, Kate is sharing her time with Mars as a Member of the Board of Advisors for the DEFRA Council for Sustainable Business and the Dasgupta Review on Economics of Biodiversity. Throughout her career, Kate’s achievements and impact have been recognised by top publications. Previously she has been named as one of the Top 30 Women Shaping Sustainable Business by Business Green and as one of the Top 100 UK Environmentalists by Forbes, a testament to the impact she has had on the move to a more sustainable future.
Now booked as a speaker for corporate events, Kate shares her expertise in sustainable practises in engaging speeches. Having worked for top companies such as Mars, eBay and Barclays, Kate is not only a successful sustainability officer but can also share her expertise in business strategies. As a speaker, Kate is often booked to speak on supply chains, sustainable sourcing, social impact and sustainable development, backed by her decade of experience sitting at the helm of Mars.
