Holding a PhD from RMIT University, Leyla is the Founder and Chief Educator at Swivel Skills – a platform that offers global workforce with sustainability skills so that they can thrive in a circular economy. Leyla has made a mark for herself as the Founder and CEO of Disrupt Design where she and her team use design to inspire positive social change. Leyla’s prowess as a design thinker and speaker is also visible in her highly revered TED talks “Paper Beats Plastic? How to Rethink Environmental Folklore” and “How Do We Value Invisible Things”.
Founder and former Director of Eco Innovators, Leyla is especially skilled at fostering strategic sustainability. In 2012, Leyla received the Core 77 Design Education Initiative Award and was also named the UNEP Champion of the Earth in 2016. She is known for her ability to challenge people to perceive the world differently from the same old templates it has been for eons. Her award-winning series of short, animated videos, The Secret Life of Things, of which she was the Creative Director, is testament to that fact.
Formerly a Visiting Scholar at New York University, Leyla has been Founder of CO Farm Brain Spa as well.
