Best known for the seven years he spent as the Chief Sustainability Officer at IKEA Group, Steve played a pivotal role in the global brand’s environmental efforts. Responsible for the sustainability strategy of the furniture giant, Steve developed People and Planet Positive which was established in 2012. From launching a conscious products range to pioneering the investment of billions into wind power, Steve’s contributions led IKEA to be named in the top 5 most sustainable businesses in the world, by the time he left in 2017. During his tenure in this role, steve also Co-Chaired the Environment & Nature Resources Global Future Council for the World Economic Forum.
Since gaining a reputation as a sustainability expert, Steve has gone on to hold several other key roles, including as a Strategic Advisor to IP Group and an Advisory Board Member for Sustainable Energy for All. Currently, Steve acts as the Chief Sustainability Officer for Temasek, an investment company based in Singapore that has a passion for environmentally friendly business. Additionally, Steve is the Chair and Co-Founder of WE MEAN BUSINESS. The organisation was founded in 2014 with the ambition to combine governments, businesses and influential investors in a bid to tackle climate change.
