Richard Browning is the Founder and Chief Test Pilot of Gravity Industries. He is well known for developing an Iron Man like jet suit which has more horsepower than a Bugatti Veyron. A futuristic innovator, always looking to push the boundaries, Richard is constantly developing his jet suit, in addition to conducting flying events and lessons. With an amazing journey to share, Richard is an accomplished speaker having given 5 TED talks on his captivating aeronautical success story.
Starting his career as an oil trader for BP, he left after 16 years to pursue his dream of flying in 2016. After spending some time experimenting with different concepts, he was able to combine cutting edge technology with an understanding of the human body to create his award-winning jet suit. In 2018 his jet suit was named One of TIME’s Best Inventions. Although the project was initially self-funded, since demonstrating the success of the jet suit, Richard has received support from Red Bull.
Not contend with simply pushing what is aeronautically possible, Richard is a gifted athlete running ultramarathons and is also a former Royal Marines Reservist. In 2019 Richard won his second Guinness world record after beating his previous record, for fastest speed in jet suit by going at 85.06mph. His book titled, Taking on Gravity: A Guide to Inventing the Impossible from the Man Who Learned to Fly, is thought provoking and inspirational, highlighting his struggles and success.
Daring to turn his dream into a reality, following in the footsteps of his father and continuously trying to innovate his work, Richard is a pioneer and a showman who has an inspirational story to tell. Having confidently delivered engaging speeches for TED talks he is a great speaker to book.
