Tim Peake is a British and ESA astronaut, renowned for being the second astronaut to wear the flag of the United Kingdom on his suit as he visited the International Space Station. Capturing the attention of the world with his space exploits, the former British Army Officer, has enjoyed a thrilling and varied career in the sky. With anecdotes that are out of this world, having lived through experiences most can only dream of, Tim is one of the most sought-after speakers on the circuit. Known to motivate audiences to pursue their ambitions through the retelling of his adventures, Tim is down to earth and entertaining, the qualities of a truly exceptional speaker.
After completing the yearlong selection process, Tim became an ESA astronaut in 2009, the start of a journey he would never forget. From weightlessness to first aid, spacewalk simulators to elite teamwork, Tim underwent rigorous training before he became the first British ESA astronaut and the second to bear the British flag on their suit. Launching into space in 2015, Tim took part in more than 250 experiments on the International Space Station over a six-month period onboard Soyuz TMA-19M. He was also the first Brit to conduct a spacewalk outside the ISS. Whilst in space, Tim became an international icon as he shared his experiences through a #CosmicClassroom series on YouTube, where he joined live calls with school children and the late Professor Stephen Hawking.
With a passion for flight from an early age, Tim’s adventurous spirit saw him fly his first plane aged only 13. Fast forward and Tim joined the Army Air Corps when he turned 18, where he completed training at Sandhurst, expeditions in Alaska and was awarded the Stockwell Sword for his impressive commitment to the course. From Afghanistan to Northern Ireland, Tim thrived in every environment representing his country and gradually worked his way up to be promoted to Major following his completion of Defence Helicopter Flying School. Such an influential 18-year career in the Forces supplied Tim with the teamwork, leadership, and resilience training to succeed as an astronaut.
Since returning to earth in 2016, Tim has been seen as a role model, sharing his stories in the mainstream media, bestselling books, and as an ambassador for the Scout Association. On the 20th of January 2023, Tim announced that he would be retiring from active service for the European Space Agency, instead focusing on an ambassadorial role for the ESA. Having been appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George by the Queen, Tim is recognised for his extensive commitment to science and discovery. Currently working with the UK Space Agency, and as a UK ambassador for STEM, Tim is a highly sought after keynote speaker, able to motivate individuals and teams to achieve beyond the impossible.
