After starting life as a City lawyer, Jim moved in-house to become the International Legal Counsel at ICL, now known as Fujitsu, before founding the cultural change consultancy Optimise, now known as Taming Tigers Group, in the late 90s. His clients have included Apple, Legal and General, BT, AstraZeneca, Barclaycard and the NHS.
At board level, Jim is an elite team coach, serving as a non-executive board chairman. Specialising in cultivating cultural change and elite teams, he has previously advised several internationally renowned global companies. He has designed and implemented change programmes for companies like Apple, Barclaycard, Atos, Axa, Aramark, Skrill Group and Badminton England, which have produced visible, long term success. Jim's motivational abilities saw him named the fourth-best motivational speaker in the world by Global Gurus.
Jim insists on testing his principles on himself before advising others, to ensure the quality of what he believes in - for example, Jim used Taming Tigers to become Britain’s deepest freediver, proving its validity as a product. In doing so, Jim became the first British person to dive below the 100m barrier, astoundingly, on a single breath of air. Additionally, when challenged by his audience, Jim became a jockey in 12 months thanks to Taming Tigers. In the beginning, he was three stone too heavy so could not ride a horse. To overcome this, using the Ten Rules as his guide, Jim lost the weight and succeeded in his challenge.
Those who witness Jim present can tell from the moment he steps on the stage, how passionate he is about motivating other people. His tried and tested methods of personal development has helped thousands of people to realise their true potential, a notion that he shares through his public speaker. Charming, dedicated and confident in his delivery, Jim does not just believe that his methods work, but has had the experience to prove that Taming Tigers will make a difference to those who read it. His topics range from business management to peak performance, using his experience of consultancy to offer advice on change management.
