Ama Agbeze was selected as the Captain of the English Netball Team in 2016, 15 years after she won her first cap for the England Roses netball team. Currently a Legal Counsel at the University of Warwick, she uses her expertise in sports and law to manage her roles as an Ambassador of Greenhouse Sports, Board Trustee at SportsAid, and former Board of Directors at Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, amongst others. Ama is known to touch on subjects like leadership, diversity and inclusion, winning behaviours of teams, and dedication and goal setting, when booked as a speaker.
Dubbed “a marvel of the modern netball world”, Ama is worthy of every bit of praise she receives. She has been instrumental in putting netball back on people’s radars, especially during the Commonwealth Games as 2 million people watched England reign victorious against Australia. This moment was even regarded as the Greatest Sporting Moment of the Year at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards. For her stellar work in the sport, with 100 England caps to her name, she was inducted into the England Netball Hall of Fame and was also awarded an MBE in 2019.
