L’myah Sherae is on a mission to increase racial diversity in teaching across the UK and is therefore the Founder and Chief Coordinator of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Race Equality in Education and Founder of Enact Equality. With a strong background in politics, L’myah is an expert on all things related to public engagement, international relations, African and Middle Eastern politics, statistical analysis and minority engagement. She is now available to speak at a wide range of events, where she exhibits her unparalleled expertise on these subjects.
L’myah has a glowing career to her name, having worked in roles that few others could add to their resumes. She has served as the Senior Researcher and Parliamentary Manager at UK House of Lords, Political Correspondent and Policy Officer to MP Jeremy Corbyn from the Labour Party, Project Officer at the House of Commons, Mentor at Aimhigher, Intern at the Islington Political Campaigning Office and Intern at the Nottingham City Council.
L'myah learnt quite early on that if something made her uncomfortable, she should raise her voice against it. This is a tenet she practices even today, and something that led her to work in race relations and politics. Therefore, she obtained her BSc Hons in Politics and Sociology from Aston University and Masters in International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge. She does not hold back from sharing her views publicly, making appearances on platforms like Sky News, BBC, ITV, Channel 5, Don’t Call Me Exotic podcasr and Ham & High podcast.
Today, it is through L’myah’s efforts that discrimination against Afro-hair in schools is being checked and she continues to champion racial equality in the country and subsequently the world. A true voice of reason, promoting equality in politics, she was honoured with the Outstanding Woman Award in 2018 and was elected to the Houses of Parliament’s Staff Equality Committee for Race, Ethnicity and Cultural Heritage. L’myah Sherae is the apt choice to book for your next diversity and inclusion event, without a doubt. Book her today!
