Meg Zeenat Wamithi is the Founder and CEO of Mindmapper – a platform that provides young people with the suitable mental health support they require through workshops, programmes and 1-2-1 coaching sessions. She is an advocate for mental health awareness amongst the youth and led the My Mind Matters Too mental health awareness campaign that helped 35,000 Year 9 to university level students and was featured in Guardian, Channel News 5, BBC London, BBC 1 Extra, One Young World and Student Minds. Available to speak at a range of events where she delves into matters revolving around mental health, well-being, and personal development, whilst also sharing more about her personal struggles with mental health issues, Meg really connects with her audience.
Meg graduated from King’s College London with a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, despite having a troubled childhood rife with mental health issues like anorexia, anxiety, and depression. She made drastic attempts to end her life at 14, 16 and 20 years of age. Meg did not feel she received the correct kind of treatment she needed and therefore dedicated her life’s work to ensuring this does not happen to anyone else in her position. In her time at university, she took a year off to publish her debut book “If You Don’t Know, Get to Know”, and to complete an internship as well as a year-long programme in Behaviour Therapy. Meg’s resume is impressive, ranging from her work as a Strategic Programmes Lead at Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing and Hounslow (HFEH) Mind, as the Vice Director of Our Experience – an organisation that aims to provide a safe space for Women and Non-Binary persons of colour, and as Mental Health Project Coordinator and Peer Volunteer Manager at EACH Counselling and Support amongst other positions she has held. She has also been Head of Communications Director at King’s Think Tank which is a student-led policy institute in London, and has worked with companies like KPMG, Amazon, Booking.com, and Clifford Chance in her career.
Not having enough representation or a positive role model when she was growing up was hard on Meg, but she has been able to become that role model for several children today. She is engaged in several programmes that are directed towards helping out the youth. Meg is a member of 20:40, a not-for-profit membership organisation that allows the next generation to move towards economic progression. She is also an Advisory Board Member at BecomingX and an Ambassador at One Young World where she was chosen as one of the 6000 young leaders who are passionate about making the world a positive place. In 2021, Meg received the Inside Out Emerging Wellbeing Leader award for her work in the field of mental health and wellbeing. She has been a volunteer for Anza for six years where she helps raise funds for children to purchase books and stationery.
Named as one of the Top 10 Rare Rising Stars, mentioned on the Diana Award Roll of Honour in 2019, and recipient of the King’s Global Experience Award and King’s Leadership & Professional Skills Award, Meg is available to educate her audiences on a myriad of topics regarding mental well-being, personal and community development, employee engagement and entrepreneurship.
