Mark Lomas is a highly respected people and culture executive and an influential voice in diversity, equity and inclusion, currently serving as Head of Culture, Talent and Communities at Lloyd’s of London. With a career spanning multiple sectors, including finance, infrastructure, media and the public sector, Mark has built a reputation for designing and delivering award-winning talent, performance and leadership development frameworks. Mark began his career at Shaw Trust as a National Equality and Diversity Manager, where he led strategic initiatives to improve outcomes for marginalised communities through the New Deal for Disabled People programme. He went on to found Muchwork Ltd, where he worked as Managing Consultant and Director, advising organisations on leadership development, organisational change and inclusive practices. Alongside this, he served as Equality and Diversity Manager at The Law Society, contributing to the implementation of the Diversity and Inclusion Charter. His transition to the BBC as Diversity Manager saw him lead high-impact initiatives and earn a place on the prestigious Director-General’s BBC/CLORE Leadership Programme, further strengthening his expertise in cultural transformation.
Building on this foundation, Mark joined HS2 as Head of Diversity and Inclusion and HR Operations, where he played a pivotal role in achieving Clear Assured Platinum Accreditation, a distinction held by only a small number of organisations globally. He later progressed into the role of Organisational Design Programme Manager before moving to Lloyd’s of London. In his current position, he has designed and implemented comprehensive talent, succession and leadership frameworks, delivered the organisation’s Culture Strategy, and established a landmark partnership with Johns Hopkins University to address Lloyd’s historical links to the transatlantic slave trade. In addition, he has served as a Non-Executive Director at NHS Property Services, chairing the people and culture committee.
