Nina Goswami, the Head of Inclusion UK for Clifford Chance, has previously been the first Creative Diversity Lead at BBC. Perplexed by the lack of diversity in the journalism industry, Nina decided to take matters in her own hands and change that. Today she has received accolades for propagating the 50:50 scheme at BBC and is available to speak at a range of corporate events on diversity and inclusion.
Heavily inspired by Moira Stuart, the first Black Presenter in Britain to read the news, Nina wanted to become a journalist from very early on in her life. While she always aimed to be a journalist and TV news editor, Nina studied Law at the Queen Mary University of London. This helped when she started out at the Sunday Times where she worked on legal issues, providing her with a substantial foundation in data analysis and ability to make rational arguments. It was when Nina was working at the Sunday Telegraph that she realized that print media was not flourishing, and thus made a shift to BBC as an intern.
Throughout her career at BBC, where she worked in several departments at several positions, Nina found the lack of representation in the industry and has since been working to change this. As the first Creative Diversity Lead at BBC, she introduced the 50:50 scheme, and aimed to balance the ratio of men to women in the workplace and also to be more inclusive toward ethnic minorities and those with disabilities. She has won the Top 20 Global Diversity List Champion award as well as the Highly Commended Asian Women of Achievement award for her work.
Paving the way for more diversity and inclusion in the industry, Nina is an expert to teach people about why diversity and inclusion is so important. When booked as a speaker Nina speaks about how to improve representation in the workplace. If you are looking for a speaker who has rich experience in the area of diversity and inclusion, look no further than Nina Goswami.
