Andy Haldane worked for 31 years as Chief Economist at and member of the Monetary Policy Committee at the Bank of England. Today, he offers his advisory services businesses and government officials all over the world. Having completed his MA in Economics from the University of Warwick, Andy has also served as a Visiting Fellow at Nuffield College for nearly seven years. He received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Sunderland in 2022 and has been given the opportunity to serve as an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham, University of Manchester, University of Exeter and as a Visiting Professor at King’s College, London. In his time at the Bank of England, Andy worked across several departments like the Monetary Analysis Division, International Finance Division and Market Infrastructure Division before retiring from his long association with the bank in 2021.
Referred to as a Rising Star Central Banker by Forbes, Andy is also a Contributing Editor to the Financial Times, where he puts his vast and varied experience to good use. In 2009 he began working as the Founder and President of Pro Bono Economics and is the CEO of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce today. Andy was also included in Times Magazine’s World’s Most Influential People list. He was also made a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2021.
