One of Scotland’s most successful entrepreneurs, Shaf Rasul is probably best known for being one of the ‘Dragons’ in the online version of the BBC’s popular TV programme, Dragons’ Den.
Featuring in The Sunday Times Rich List, Shaf Rasul is one of the 100 Most Successful Members of the British Asian Community and he once won the Ernst and Young Scottish Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2006. The magazine Management Today has ranked him in the Top 20 of the UK’s best entrepreneurs.
Shaf Rasul was a self-made multi-millionaire by the end of the last century, he wasn’t interested in stepping back and moving into the cosy world of business mentoring. Instead, he set up E-Net Computers which went on to become the largest storage media distributor in Europe. At one stage, E-Net Computers boasted a turnover of £67.2m and became one of the world’s largest buyers of optical storage products. It also created a £5m distribution centre in Edinburgh and an import/export hub in Dubai.
Still not one to rest on his laurels, Shaf Rasul developed a highly successful venture capital investment portfolio focusing on internet technology, asset management and property.
As a motivational speaker, Shaf delights audiences with his extensive knowledge of forging successful businesses, particularly in the retail sector. He says he is always interested in “talented people with bright and creative business ideas”.
