Angelica initially gained degrees in Law, English Literature and Language at Peking University before she joined the world of fashion journalism. On her appointment as the Editor in Chief of Vogue China, Angelica became the youngest Vogue Editor in Chief and launched the first issue of the magazine in 2005. The magazine was immediately a huge hit, having to be printed twice after completely selling out of its initial batch of 300,000 prints. Before taking on the role at Vogue China, Angelica formerly acted as the Editor in Chief of Marie Claire in Hong Kong and Editorial Director of Elle in China.
As the popularity of Vogue China soared, Angelica was able to launch a number of side projects to the magazine. In 2015 she launched Vogue Me, a brand with the aim of targeting the millennial generation. The brand immediately captivated Chinese millennials, further crediting Angelica’s business genius. A year later in 2016, Angelica pioneered the launch of Vogue Film. This project incorporated fashion with the entertainment industry, using the medium of film to tell short stories. Angelica was also pivotal in the launch of various digital channels for the publication and launched Vogue Now social media magazine. Over the past 15 years Angelica has pioneered the world of Chinese fashion, growing her brands into influential empires and industry leaders. Vogue China boasts an incredible readership of 1.8 million and puts out 20 issues per year.
In reward of her commitment to the publication, Angelica has received many awards and accolades. Previously she has won the 2012 MOCA Legacy Award, 2016, UniSA Alumni Award, 2017 Asia Couture Federation Award and the 2018 Advance Global Alumni Award. Angelica has not only received awards she has also sat on judging panels, such as the ANDAM Fashion Awards, British Fashion Awards and the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers.
