Former firefighter, Tim Brown, is a heroic survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attack, and the 1993 World Trade Centre bombing. Putting his life on the line to save others, Tim’s career has been dedicated to the greater good, during which time he has played an integral role in many dangerous rescue missions. Utilising his first-hand experiences, Tim now acts as a motivational speaker, educating his audiences on the topics of leadership, resilience, and teamwork, empowering individuals to inhibit such qualities in their personal and professional lives.
For 18 years, Tim was a firefighter with New York City Fire Department, having dreamt of joining the squad since he was a young boy. Starting his service in the South Bronx, Tim gradually worked his way to join Rescue 3, where he spent a decade attending such high profile emergencies as the 2003 Station Nightclub fire and the 1993 World Trade Centre attack. Throughout his dedicated career, Tim held a number of leadership roles working within federal government safety, on the Emergency Management team and the US Department of Homeland Security.
Despite being involved in hundreds of fires over nearly two decades, no mission impacted Tim like the 9/11 Twin Towers terrorist attacks. During the harrowing events that unfolded on that day, Tim was the forefront of rescuing those trapped, managing panic and instructing emergency services. Never leaving his position to save his own life, Tim was responsible for the safe evacuation of hundreds of workers in the South Tower. In total, Tim lost 93 friends in the event, and he now he commits his time to preserve the memory of those who died.
Through a series of media appearances on the likes of FOX News and CNN, in addition to his contributions to numerous documentaries, Tim has been the voice of those involved in the events of 9/11. Speaking openly about not only his role and the actions that took place, but of how he handled such mass grief afterwards, Tim is a sought-after speaker on emotional recovery. His 2015 TEDx Talk on ‘Ordinary People, Extraordinary Heroes’ inspired the audience to encompass the self-less qualities of those involved in 9/11 rescues in their own lives. Since retiring as a firefighter, Tim has founded The Families Inc.
