John Whaite’s stint on the popular television show The Great British Bakeoff put him on the map and the path to achieving all his dreams. A graduate with a Bachelor in Law degree from the University of Manchester, John’s true calling was to serve up scrumptious delicacies in the kitchen. After he won the season of the Great British Bake Off that he was on in 2012, John did not stop his food journey. Now available to speak to audiences about everything he has done since then, John can be hired as a speaker at a range of events.
John’s TV presence is captivating, making him an obvious choice for being a guest on the Alan Titchmarsh Show, Sunday Brunch, Lorraine and This Morning. He has also been a co-presenter and judge along with Rosemary Shrager on The Chopping Block. Stepping away from the world of cooking and into some dancing shoes, John was a part of the iconic, first ever same-sex couple with Johannes Radebe on Strictly Come Dancing. Him doing this allowed others to follow suit and the following season of the dance show also featured a same-sex couple with Nicola Adams. John was able to bring diversity and inclusion to mainstream TV – an incredible feat that takes character. As someone who struggled with bulimia and was subject to homophobia, John thinks it’s important to use his platform against these evils.
John’s cookbooks like “Perfect Plates in 5 Ingredients”, “Comfort: Food to Soothe the Soul”, “John Whaite’s Bakes at Home”, “A Flash in the Pan” and “John Whaite’s Bakes” have inspired millions of people to discover their inherent cooking skills, similar to what he was able to do when he was on the show. The one-time Star Baker’s Toffee Apple, Orange and Cranberry Upside-Down cake, and winning Italian Sausage and Roasted Vegetable Pithivier proved that he was a force to be reckoned with in both the savoury and sweet department. With a Diploma in Patisserie from Le Cordon Bleu, he opened his own cooking school called John Whaite’s Kitchen that's situated on his dairy farm, where he helps several people find their own passion, or at least indulge themselves in a fun-filled, delicious snack.
A contributor to the Daily Telegraph’s Hot John column, John is now happy to speak at events where he stresses on the importance of diversity, inclusion, mental health and matters relating to the LGBT community. His latest book "Dancing on Eggshells: Kitchen, ballroom 7 the messy in between" is a memoir that is set to release in August 2023. He is endearing, inviting and inspiring, and will make an excellent speaker at your upcoming event. Enquire about how you can hire John Whaite now!
