Expert leader, Thomas A Kolditz has enjoyed a successful military career and is now working in developing the next generation of leaders. Having lectured at top university’s and spearheaded leadership and management courses, Thomas is now a popular speaker for a range of corporate and educational speeches with previous clients including the likes of Google. Formerly Thomas was a member of the American Military and served as a Brigadier General. During his many years of military service, Thomas built his expertise in management and leadership in extreme circumstances and was also the leader of the West Point Department of Behavioural Sciences and Leadership. Thomas is also well known for his role as the Founding Director of the Ann and John Doerr Institute at the Rice University and the former Yale School of Management Director of the Leadership Development Program. He has also spent time as a Leadership and Human Resources Policy Analyst in the Pentagon and authored the book In Extremis Leadership.
Before forging his successful career in the Military and leadership, Thomas studied in Psychology and Sociology at the Vanderbilt University. Upon graduating, Thomas then went on to study for a PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Since graduating, Thomas has worked as a Professor in the Practise of Leadership and Management at the Yale School of Management and on the Senior Advisory Board of the Future of Executive Development Forum. He also led several programs on the subjects of leadership, management, sociology and psychology for a decade at West Point as part of the American Military Academy.
A fellow in the American Psychological Association for the Department of Psychology, Thomas has been the recipient of various awards throughout his career. He has previously been the recipient of the Distinguished Service Medal from the US Military and the Warren Bennis Award for Excellence in Leadership. He has also claimed recognition as number 6 in Coaching by Global Gurus, named as a Top Leader Development Professional by Leadership Excellence and named as a Leadership Thought Leader by the Leader to Leader Institute. He has also been named as one of 8 finalists for the Thinkers50 MG Coaching Awards, currently a Managing Partner of the leader development consultancy Saxon Castle LLC.
