Justin Hughes has forged a respectable career as a former Royal Air Force Fighter Pilot and Executive Officer of the Red Arrows. Since retired from the forces, Justin is now working as a strategic business advisor with extensive experience in creating organisational excellence. Putting to use lessons learnt from his time in the forces, Justin is now booked as a speaker for corporate events covering topics such as creating high-performance teams, decision making and leadership.
Back in the 1990s, Justin joined the Royal Air Force as a Fighter Pilot flying a Tornado F3. Before long, Justin progressed to become an Executive Officer of the Red Arrows and began acting on pivotal operations such as the United Nations peacekeeping operations. Serving in the forces for an impressive 12 years, Justin delivered over 250 flying displays with the Red Arrows. Having experienced first-hand making decisions in high-pressure situations, Justin is an expert on operational excellence and high performance.
After leaving the forces, Justin has worked a diverse career, becoming the MD and Director of Consulting for Mission Excellence in 2003. In 2007 he became the co-founder and Director of SL Privée, an exclusive lingerie fashion brand of which Justin was responsible for finance and marketing. Justin has also been the Director of Integrated Airline Services for L3Harris Commercial Aviation, during which he was responsible for transformational programmes and ensuring business continuity during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Justin has also contributed his time as a trustee, acting as the Trustee of humantopia and Board Trustee of Coastal Learning Partnership. He has also recently become a Member of the Board of Advisors for Digital Wellbore Ltd and continues his work in consultancy with Mission Excellence, having also shared his expertise on BBC Breakfast and in The Daily Telegraph and Metro. Justin has also authored The Business of Excellence: Building High-Performance Teams and Organisations, in which he writes on individuals who drive excellence in teams and organisations.
With a successful career behind him, Justin is now regularly booked as a speaker for corporate events to share his expertise on creating high-performance teams, operational excellence and leadership. With previous clients including the likes of Fujitsu, Prudential and London Luton Airport, Justin is revered for his business expertise across sectors such as healthcare, aviation and construction.
