Derek's achievements include winning Gold in the 4x400m relay at the 1986 European Championships and a Silver medal at the 1987 World Championships. His most memorable moment came during the 1992 Olympic Games when, despite a torn hamstring, he famously crossed the finish line with his father's support, a moment that has resonated with millions worldwide.

Transitioning from athletics, Derek pursued a successful career in professional basketball, playing for the Birmingham Bullets and the England National Team. His career saw him competing against legends like Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, showcasing his versatility and high-performance capabilities.
