Born in Harlow, Essex, Osagie has competed in the World Indoor Championships and the Commonwealth Games as well as the Olympics. Really popular with the public – whether he is standing on a medals podium or standing at a speaker’s lectern – Andrew has been a committed sportsman from a very young age. Not letting fame go to his head, he still runs for his hometown club Harlow Athletic.
As an Olympic speaker, Andrew has just the right mix of messages and anecdotes to inspire any kind of audience, whether business people at a corporate event or young people looking to move into sports themselves. Andrew is equally at home in schools and youth centres as he is in large conference halls surrounded by ‘suits’.
Controversially, Osagie was eliminated from the 800m in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after he collided with Wales’s Joe Thomas. They would have both advanced to the semi-finals if this hadn’t happened.
