Blossoming at the early age of 14, Bryan became a cycling enthusiast following in the footsteps of his brother. He developed from a young boy who wasn’t into sports or at the height of his fitness, to an Olympic silver medalist at the 2004 Athens Games. He enjoyed a shining 18-year career competing at four Olympic Games, 14 World Championships and three Commonwealth Games before retiring due to his love for the sport fading.
Now a motivational speaker, Byran has set his sights on promoting cycling as a lifestyle rather than a sport through The Bryan Steel Cycling Community. He aims to introduce people into the community program to develop their skill and fitness but to also allow them to enjoy all the social elements of the sport which Steel lost during his competitive career.
He has also set up The Bryan Steel Race Academy, a two-year programme that works with talented under 23 cyclists from the East Midlands. The aim of the programme is to develop its students into national, international or even professional cyclers as well as focusing on other key life skills which can be used outside of the sport.
Each rider receives one on one sessions with Bryan where he helps them to realise their physical ability and how they are able to win a race. As an Olympic medalist, motivational speaker and cycling coach, Bryan carries all the aspects that add up to the perfect inspirational attendee to any event or conference as the keynote speaker.
