Lee Spencer is a man whose story inspires people everywhere to keep going in the face of adversity. A former Royal Marine, Lee tragically lost his right leg in a freak accident in 2014. However, this did not stop him from achieving great heights - creating several Guinness World Records. Lee is now available to book for speaking engagements at schools or organisations where he tells his story in a riveting fashion.
In 2014, Lee came across some people who had crashed on the M3 in Surrey, and whilst he nobly helped them, he was hit by an engine block. This caused his left leg to be completely shattered, with only a complete severance of the leg left as a resolve. Lee had at that point dedicated 24 years of his life to being a Royal Marine. Despite his early life being rife with challenges such as being subject to violence and people who struggled with alcoholism, Lee managed to make the most for himself. He started out as a Troop Sergeant, leading a section in the AI Faw Peninsula. As a part of the Royal Marines, he completed three operational tours of Northern Ireland and Iraq. He has also completed three undercover stints in Afghanistan.
Not letting his disability define him, a message he wishes to spread in the world today, Lee has set numerous Guinness World Records today. He is the world’s first disabled person who rowed 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from Europe to South America, all by himself and without any support. He has also been a part of the Row2Recovery team who rowed into Antigua. He has accrued a total of 3 Guinness World Records to his name – an incredible feat. He has also been interviewed and commended by HRH The Duke of Sussex Prince Harry.
Lee firmly believes that people should not be labelled or reduced to their disability – every day striving to destigmatise disabilities. He is soon about to participate in The Triathlon of Great Britain, his most arduous challenge so far. Swimming the English Channel, cycling from Lands End to John O’ Groats and climbing the three highest mountains in the nation, this is not an easy task, however, Lee is determined to undertake the challenge. Through his speaking engagements at schools and organisations, Lee hopes to educate people that they should never allow themselves to be defined by their limitations. When you book Lee as a speaker for your event, rest assured that your audience will come out feeling inspired and full of vigour. Enquire now!
