Shona Hirons contributed to the book “The Girls Who Refused to Quit”, because no matter the challenges life has sent her way, she has embodied the girl who refused to quit. Director of Mindset in Motion today, Shona has lived several lives in a single lifetime. Now she offers employees of organisations a safe place to have open, honest, and completely confidential talks. She also offers her expertise to other coaches and therapists on how to capitalize on their skills, through her work as a business coach. Shona is now available to book for a wide range of events where she speaks candidly about her story, adversity, burnout, change, confidence, mindfulness, and taking care of one’s mental health.
Making it to nearly 50 years of life is a phenomenal achievement for Shona, given that she was not expected to live through her first night as a 6-week premature infant. Shona has worked in litigation and as a legal advisor in her career, dedicating 14 years of her life to it. Despite undergoing a mini stroke at merely 22 and being operated on for a hole in her heart at 32, Shona gave her all to her job. Ultimately after years of back and forth and feeling burnt out, she realized that her mental health and family were of more value than the job. This, however, brought on feelings of failure, which is why Shona turned to mindfulness.
She qualified as a Spin Instructor after discovering her yen for cycling. The lessons she learned from practicing mindfulness techniques helped her excel in a new role she joined two years after. Soon after, she met with a nearly fatal cycling accident that changed her entire perspective on life. She began to question if all that she had achieved brought joy to her life. The answer was overwhelmingly “no”. She then began to delve into life coaching, undergoing an NLP, CIPD, Master’s in Mindfulness, and several other related courses. This led her to her current path. She has stayed on this path, despite being diagnosed and cured of cancer in 2019.
Shona has written a book titled “Broken to Bionic” and won The Inspired Award for her work in mental health and wellbeing. She now delivers her revolutionary talk “Broken to Bionic”, and has done so in 55 countries, aiming to help people change their mindsets and life, just as she did for herself. Shona Hirons is now available to book for several events, where she tells her awe-inspiring story with candour. Book her today!
