The former, harbored ambitions to become a boxer, but soon realized he wasn’t rally built for it and, with a heavy heart at having to give up on his dream, turned his attentions to e-publishing and journalism. This route would prove more successful – Pete worked for several years writing a regular column for a major Spanish newspaper and carved out his niche as a freelance journalist and travel writer.
Meanwhile Derek, a former professional footballer, was born in Northern Ireland and grew up at a time when the country was undergoing increasingly intense internal conflict. He successfully fought his way out of this world, becoming a footballer and making a name for himself.
As a duo Pete and Derek have come together to share their very different but complimentary experiences – they specialise in all things Spanish, and their mutual travels around the country and particular interest in the Extremadura region have provided them with a wealth of inspiring and interesting stories. As well as this, the pair also offer talks on the niche subject of publishing, e-publishing and the Maple System. The two complement one another and their work as speakers is popular at specialist publishing business events.
