Kirsty first began her career in journalism back in 1976, joining the BBC as a graduate researcher on BBC Radio Scotland. Kirsty was soon promoted to the position of producer for Good Morning Scotland. After an initial taste of television broadcasting, Kirsty accepted roles as a producer for political and current affairs programmes such as Agenda, Current Account and Reporting Scotland. After a period of time in producing, Kirsty was sought to begin presenting for BBC Scotland. She soon became the face of shows such as Scottish Questions, Reporting Scotland, Seven Days and Left, Right and Centre.
Quickly establishing a favourable reputation as a presenter, Kirsty was fortunate to be given her own interview programme, titled The Kirsty Wark Show. Kirsty became well known for her distinctive interview style, with the likes of Margaret Thatcher amongst her interviewees. She was also fortunate to gain presenting credits on The Late Show and esteemed Newsnight. With an ever-growing reputation, Kirsty was able to found Wark Clements & Co, her own production company where she was seen once again presenting programmes such as Lives Less Ordinary, Building a Nation and Words With Wark. Most recently, in 2021, Kirsty was a key reporter for the BBC on coverage of election results of the Scottish Parliament elections.
Alongside her presenting credits, Kirsty has also made a series of cameo appearances in other notable TV programmes. She has made cameo appearances on Dr Who, Absolutely Fabulous, Spooks, Party Animals and The Amazing Mrs Pritchard. In 2011 she was selected to feature on the programme Celebrity Masterchef and in 2013 The Great British Bake Off, again diversifying her range of television credits. Her work within the entertainment industry has continually been recognised by officials. In 1993 she was awarded Journalist of the Year by BAFTA Scotland and Best Television Presenter 1997 by BAFTA Scotland. In 2000 she was also nominated for the prestigious Richard Dimbleby Award for Best Television Presenter at the BAFTAs.
Professional, personable and knowledgeable, Kirsty is highly sought-after as a speaker and conference facilitator. Showcasing a diverse broadcasting career, Kirsty has learnt valuable life lessons along the way and experienced the inner workings of some of the largest British Broadcasting providers. With an infectious stage presence, Kirsty is also at home presenting as an event host, having previously hosted the 10th Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland Awards in 2007.
