After completing her Bachelor of Law from the University of Warwick, Yomi began her career in the field of journalism. Interning for Channel 4 before studying and then working as a content producer for Studentbeans.com, Yomi has had the experience of working with some of the biggest media organisations in the world. She has interned with The Croyden Guardian, Guardian News & Media, The Telegraph and then accepted her first position as a Journalist at ITN. Now author of a monthly column at The Guardian, Yomi is a frequent contributor The Washington Post, Vice, Elle and the British Vogue magazines.
A prolific writer, Yomi co-authoring books like “Slay In Your Lane” and “Loud Black Girls” and in 2023, Yomi published “The List” which went on to become a Sunday Times Bestseller. Host of a pop culture podcast “Slay In Your Lane”, Yomi is the recipient of the Most Influential People in London title by the Evening Standard (who also bestowed upon her the title of a ‘Frontline Pioneer’). Yomi has also received the Marie Claire Future Shaper award, The Groucho Maverick award and was named the Journalist of the Year at the Women in Africa Awards.
Gathering experience as the Presenter of “Where are the Black Women of Grime?”, Yomi regularly speaks at BBC’s Woman’s Hour, ITV News and BBC Radio 4.
