Making his first appearance for the England Cricket Team at just 20 years old, Phillip DeFreitas played 44 Test matches, taking 40 wickets, and played in two World Cup finals. He made his first-class county debut in 1985 and it wasn’t long before he was made the captain of Leicestershire CCC.
He also led Derbyshire County Cricket Club in the 1990s, played for Lancashire, Boland and Lashings World XI, and shared international pitches with the likes of Ian Botham, David Gower and Mike Gatting.
With the nickname ‘Daffy’, Phillip is known to be extremley passionate about cricket and since he retired he has gone on to pursue a career in coaching, working with young hopefuls at the Oxford Universities Centre of Cricketing Excellence (UCCE) and Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.
DeFreitas’s experiences over the years give him ample material to entertain and amuse audiences and conference delegates and his presentations always go down a storm.
