Those who may not know Daniel Ek by name will surely know him by creation. As the co-founder and CEO of Spotify, he has first-hand knowledge for the intricate process of forming a market-leading business. As a business motivational speaker, Daniel uses his decades of experience to take his audience on an insightful journey through his career. This speaker leaves a lasting positive impression on clients, who are inspired by his story to embrace their own professional opportunities.
Born and raised in Sweden, Daniel initially studied Engineering at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, before focusing his attention on IT instead. It was this decision that sealed Daniel's highly successful, profitable career. From the age of 13, he has had a keen interest in business, starting with a small website development company in his teens. Daniel was quickly charging thousands for a single website, before headhunting classmates to work for him. Though in the beginning, he had to bribe his friends with videogames, Daniel was soon earning $50,000 a month and managing a team of 25 IT experts.
Upon leaving school, Daniel was the Cheif of Technology for popular online fashion game, Stardoll. During this time he founded another company, Advertigo, an advertising company which he sold to TradeDoubler in 2006. After noticing a gap in the market for a music streaming service that didn't rely on piracy, Daniel was quoted saying; "the only way to solve the problem was to create a service that was better than piracy and at the same time compensates the music industry – that gave us Spotify." Spotify now has over 200 million active users and has raised over $2.5 billion in venture funding. As a testament to his impact on not just the world of technology or music, but the world in general, Daniel was named as the most powerful person in the music industry by Billboard in 2017.
