Steve Wozniak is highly regarded in the world of technology, widely known as the co-founder of Apple Inc. Before the years of Apple, Steve first found a passion for technology at school initially being expelled from the University of Colorado Boulder after he hacked and sent out prank messages on their computer system. From that point on Steve had an avid interest in technology, going on to design his first computer in 1971. He then met Steve Jobs, who little did he know would later become his co-founder of one of the world’s greatest technology companies.
The pair began work on ‘blue boxes’, a piece of technology that allowed long-distance phone calls at no cost, and so formed a strong partnership that would eventually see the co-founding of Apple. It was in 1975 that Steve Wozniak began working on technology that launched Apple, creating the Apple I. A year after its creation, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs co-founded Apple and released their incredible piece of technology. From that point on the pair revolutionised the market, pioneering the personal computer sector. His next great vision came in the form of the Apple II, impressively encompassing a central processing unit, floppy disk drive and colour graphics. Steve also played a pivotal role in the design of the Apple Macintosh, before leaving the company in 1985.
Outside of his work for Apple, Steve has committed his time to a series of philanthropic causes. In particular, he has spearheaded computer capability in schools, encouraging students to follow learning which is creative and innovative. To do such a thing, Steve has dedicated funding and time to schools across America and has even adopted the school district of Los Gatos. As well as helping in education, Steve is also the founding sponsor of the Tech Museum and the Children’s Museum of San Jose as well as the founder of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. In 2017 Steve founded Woz U, a platform to provide software engineering and development education.
