Dex began his career as a Media Consultant for the United Nations. In this role, Dex was responsible for speechwriting and acting as a spokesperson for the Executive Officer of the UN Secretary-General. He also worked as a project manager of the Rapid Response Media Mechanism and was a founding member of the UN’s Social Media Taskforce and Inter-Agency Taskforce on Youth. After two successful years with the UN, Dex became the first Executive Speechwriter for Google, writing speeches for the likes of Eric Schmidt, Larry Page, Patrick Pichette and Megan Smith. After his success with Google, Dex went on to become the first Head of Executive Communications for Facebook. In this role, he was responsible for writing speeches for Mark Zuckerberg, and overseeing internal communication and strategic narratives.
He has since worked as the Head of Communications for SpaceX, managing the communications teams based in Los Angeles and Washington whilst reporting to Elon Musk, and as the Director and Chief of Staff for the Brunswick Group. In 2020, he re-joined Facebook, now known as Meta, as the Vice President of Global Communication & Public Engagement on their Oversight Board.
