After achieving a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in computer science and artificial intelligence, Adam Cheyer has forged a reputable career as an inventor and engineer. Adam first entered the world of technology working as a software engineer for Bull, before joining SRI International as a computer scientist. Working with SRI for 6 years, Adam was ultimately appointed as Co-Director of the Computer-Human Interaction Centre. He also held roles as a senior director and vice president of engineering at Verticalnet Inc and vice president of engineering at Dejima Inc. In 2003 Adam returned to work for SRI International, this time working as the Chief Architect of the CALO/PAL project. This project was to pioneer the future of technology, developing a new personal cognitive assistant.
Slowly building great knowledge of technology and innovation, Adam then went on to co-found Siri Inc. Now the widely known personal assistant on Apple iPhones, Adam developed the original algorithms and technicalities that allowed the software to function. After cultivating and perfecting Siri, Adam sold the software to Apple in 2010. Upon selling Siri to Apple, Adam was appointed as an Engineering Director for Apple. In this role he was part of the iPhone team, overseeing artificial intelligence, application domains and scalable platforms and watched his software bloom into the incredible feature of the Apple technologies that it is today.
After witnessing the success of his first start-up project, Adam’s entrepreneurial instinct motivated him to co-found Viv Labs. Again utilising his extensive knowledge of artificial intelligence and computer science Adam innovated an intelligent interface, which was ultimately brought by Samsung in 2016. After Viv Labs was purchased by Samsung, Adam became their Vice President of Product Engineering and was in charge of various engineering aspects of their mobile assistants and technology. Adam also co-founded Sentient and was a founding member of Change.Org, helping to expand the technical team and make the organisation bloom into what it is today.
Alongside his passion for technology, Adam has also forged a reputation as a talented magician. Travelling far and wide, Adam entertains audiences with his award-winning clever tricks in a range of venues from stadiums to palaces. As a magician, he is a member of The International Brotherhood of Magicians, the Academy of Magical Arts and the Magic Castle. He is also currently a member of the Scientific Advisory Board and has authored 60 different publications and 38 patents.
Now pursuing public speaking, Adam is able to deliver an eloquent and knowledgeable keynote discussing a range of technological aspects. From the future of artificial intelligence to how to build a successful start-up, Adam has a proven track record and positively impacts all who are fortunate to listen to his tales of technology.
