Former Lieutenant-Colonel of the French Army, Eric Filiol is adept in cyber-criminality, cryptology, cyber-security and intelligence. With a PhD in IT and Applied Mathematics, Eric is a specialist in the field, with the knowledge to educate audiences on the detailed divisions of IT and cyber security.
Graduating as an engineer specialising in cryptology, Eric holds a PhD in IT and Applied Mathematics from the prestigious Ecole Polytechnique. He has also been awarded many qualifications in InfoOps by NATO, making him a highly skilled leader. Heading into his career with high regard, Eric is now head of the Operational Cryptology and Computer Virology lab by ESIEA in Laval, France. He is also the GostCrypt Project leader and architect and designer of the DAVFI project, a new generation of anti-malware solutions.
Previously working as an army officer, Eric enlisted for the French external intelligence agency from 1991 to 1997 before working as part of the French military school of Saint-Cyr Coetquidan in 2001, where he taught computer virology. With his extensive experience, Eric is is educated on the risks of data leakage, encryption, and business analysis. His book, Les virus informatiques : théorie, pratique et applications, which translates to New spying techniques: Why and how are companies the main targets? Won the Prix Roberval in 2004 for his medium on the topic of technology.
