Peter Jones’ main area of expertise lies in cybersecurity and digital forensics. A widely revered personality in the field, Peter completed his BSc. in Computing from the University of Plymouth, MSc. in Internet and Enterprise Systems from the University of Huddersfield and a PG Cert LTHE from the University of Central Lancashire. Today his work entails him helping organisations to protect their employees from cyberattacks by teaching them how to do so. Peter also extends this knowledge to audiences when he is hired as a speaker at events.
In the course of his career, Peter has worked with several organisations in many roles. At the core of all his work lies his sublime expertise in forensic investigation, auditing, incident response, digital forensics, cybercrime, and IT security. His first job was at Cassell Computer Service Limited where he worked as a Computing Professional. From there he has worked at organisations like Eurotel, Avon and Somerset Constabulary, UKAS and Securios – having roles of high responsibility in each. When Peter worked at Zentek Forensics as a Mobile Phone Forensic Lab Manger and Forensic Analyst, he was able to work on phone forensics technology that changed the game of data recovery completely. He was the Senior Cyber Security and Compliance Consultant at Securious and was able to further his expertise in digital forensics, cybersecurity, and compliance activities.
As a Technical Assessor for UKAS, he helped the organisation with assessing digital forensic labs, and held this position for two years. Peter returned to his alma mater the University of Central Lancashire as a Visiting Fellow and taught students about mobile phone forensics, cybercrime and IT security. Today he is the Chair of the Southwest branch of the Chartered Institute of Information Security and Co-Founder of South West Cyber Security Cluster. Peter is also experienced in designing and co-authoring several CREST-accredited courses.
Having been a Technical Reviewer for Forensics Magazine he wrote articles on latest forensic insights that were helpful to professionals in the field.
