Ellie Middleton is singlehandedly championing every neurodivergent person, simply by spreading the message that her diagnosis as an autistic ADHD-er was the best thing that has happened to her. Founder of (un)masked, Ellie is developing a safe space for neurodivergent people to connect with each other and develop relationships. Ellie can now be booked as a speaker where she will speak candidly on her own journey.
Ellie’s TEDx Talk “Why an autism diagnosis is an invitation to finally be yourself” gives us a peer into her life, contrasting vastly between before and after her diagnosis. While she spent 24 years of her life, hearing and herself thinking the worst things about her, post her autism and ADHD diagnosis, Ellie was able to understand that she was just in fact, different. Using a computer analogy, she describes herself as “a Mac trying to function in a Windows world” – a particularly creative and wholesome way to describe several complex emotions. Recognising the pain this misidentification had caused her over the years, Ellie is determined to change that narrative for other neurodivergent people. She has therefore worked with LinkedIn, Google and The Independent and has rightly been nominated for the Positive Disability Role Model for the National Diversity Awards.
From a career standpoint, Ellie has worked as a Counter Clerk at Post Office Ltd., a Customer Service Advisor at Santander bank, an Online Coordinator at Damart UK, and a Content and Social Media Executive at Kurogo. Currently, she serves as a Content Strategist and Personal Brand Manager at Great Influence – a talent agency for entrepreneurs and business leaders.
Author of “unmasked: the ultimate guide to ADHD, autism and neurodivergence”, Ellie is on a mission to educate people as much as she possibly can about this condition. Her hope is that those who struggle from it will be accepted and understood for who they are, so that they never have to think of themselves as “selfish”, “self-absorbed” or “dramatic”. Ellie Middleton is an inspiration to all, a perfect example that being different is most certainly nothing to be ashamed of. Ellie can now be booked for your next event where she is bound to wow the audience with her remarkable story. Hire Ellie Middleton today!
