Dr Pragya Agarwal is an award-winning author and behaviour and data scientist who has held senior teaching positions in the UK and US for over twelve years. She is best known for founding the research think tank ‘The 50 Percent Project’ investigating women’s rights around the world. As a two-time TEDx Speaker, Pragya is leading the way in examining inequalities all over the globe and works with organisations delivering talks and workshops on anti-racism, social inclusion and power and privilege.
Originally born in India, Pragya moved to the UK when she studied for her master’s at the University of York. She then completed her PhD at the University of Nottingham. A highly regarded professor, Pragya has held the prestigious Leverhulme Fellowship, and has held visiting fellowships and senior academic positions in numerous countries, including the UK - University College London, Australia - University of Melbourne, Chile - University of Temuco and the USA – University of California Santa Barbra and Johns Hopkins University.
Currently she is a visiting Professor at Loughborough University where she is educating the next generation on social injustice and inequalities, ensuring her work will have a positive effect on many for years to come. Pragya has been revolutionising some of the biggest organisations to be more inclusive and ensure racial and gender bias is eliminated from the workplace, some of these clients include: NHS, British Museum, Unicef, United Nations, Cambridge University, Oxford University, Shell and many more. As an accomplished author, Pragya has released a total of four critically acclaimed books; ‘Sway: Unravelling Unconscious Bias’ was awarded Guardian Book of the Week, nominated as one of the best popular science books of 2020 by Bloomsbury and shortlisted for the Transmission Prize.
