Shaun Flores was diagnosed with OCD when he was 27 years old, and soon began to understand himself and this condition better. As a Diversity Consultant at The Diversity Standards Collective he offers his insights for outgoing campaigns. Determined to share his learnings with others, Shaun uses his platform as an influencer, model, freelance writer, TEDx speaker and now as a speaker at a range of events where he delves into the intricacies of OCD, neurodiversity, diversity and inclusion, mental resilience and wellbeing when booked.
Shaun received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology and Sociology from the University of Roehampton and Master’s Degree in Race Media and Social Justice from Goldsmiths, University of London. After he was diagnosed with OCD, Shaun was able to piece together many things about his life that used to confuse him earlier, giving him a peace of mind knowing that he could now work on the issues that bothered him all his life. In his TEDx Talk “The straitjacket of masculinity” he discusses in depth how his diagnosis helped him become better. Shaun has dedicated himself to raising awareness on OCD and wants to eradicate the misconception people may have about OCD being a quirk or something enjoyable to have.
In addition to his other TEDx Talk, “The Failures of Multiculturism” Shaun has also written for publications like Treat my OCD, Kindred Magazine, The Book of Man and The Model Cloud Magazine, where he delves more into his own life story. Working with companies like ASOS, John Lewis, and Vogue Italia as a model, Shaun has worked with companies like South West Londoner, the Common Sense Network and Jacamo’s The Book of Man as a freelance writer. Through his social media platforms, he is used to sharing content on mental health, well-being, lifestyle and skin care. He has also partnered with the International OCD Foundation to help those who may be struggling with the condition and works as a Life Coach at Mindful Talent.
There are few topics that Shaun refrains from discussing in order to raise awareness on issues that people might be dealing with secretly. Believing that having difficult conversations are the key to understanding an individual, he also hosts a podcast called “Flower Hour” that tries to decode what particular events lead people to be who they are in the present. Available to speak on matters such as mental health issues, diversity and inclusion, neurodiversity, mental resilience and other related topics, Shaun Flores is a confident and candid speaker. He will make an excellent choice for your next event. Hire him today!
