When it comes to extreme photography, Ian is about as uncompromising as they come. Describing his approach as “photography from the front line”, disregarding conventional studios and heading up into the bitterly cold mountains, Ian sacrifices his own comfort and even his health in order to take some of the most impressive photographs of some of the world’s most inhospitable and extreme landscapes.
Also, a distinguished writer Ian’s photographs have appeared in a number of publications including Men’s Health, Living Well, Alpinist, Rock and Ice, Edge, High and Climber. In addition, Ian has worked as an advisor to many of the world’s biggest sporting and mountaineering brands including Adidas, Mountain Hardwear, The North Face, Osprey and Wild Country. Ian’s work has also been published in books written by Reinhold Messner, Alex Huber, Sean Isaac and Neil Gresham as well as being a cameraman on the film Cold Haul which is available on DVD.
Ian has toured the world as a motivational speaker, revealing the personal dedication and drive needed to accomplish his dangerous ascents and the inspiration he draws from the breathtaking sights and views he encounters from remote locations.
