Ilya Sutskever has been regarded as one of MIT Technology Review’s 35 Innovators Under 35 – a suitable title bestowed upon a luminary such as himself. A protégé of Geoffrey Hinton, he has solidified his status as an industry expert on deep learning through his role as the Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of OpenAI. Ilya is striving for a world where artificial general intelligence is of service to all and spreads this message when booked as a speaker.
Ilya received his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Toronto. It was during this phase that Ilya approached Professor Geoffrey Hinton, who is known as the Godfather of AI, to join his lab. Since then, a strong bond between the two flourished, resulting in them working together on several ventures like DNNResearch and AlexNet. DNNResearch was acquired by Google and Ilya became a Research Scientist at Google Brain Team. It was here that he built TensorFlow and proposed that Sequence to Sequence Learning be applied to Google Translate.
Having worked with several other leading minds such as Andrew Ng, Sam Altman, and Elon Musk during his career, Ilya is as sharp as they come. In 2016 he became the Co-Founder and Research Director of OpenAI and had been developing what we now know as ChatGPT since then. This revolutionary technology is based on the tenets of neural-network-based language models, with each variation being more efficient than the last.
Ilya is worthy of every bit of admiration that has come his way in the past few years. Remarkably talented, he has transformed the entire landscape of artificial general intelligence, computer vision, robotics, machine translation, and the world as we know it. He is adamant that AGI must serve a greater purpose and ensures this goal is achieved through OpenAI. Ilya Sutskever is now available to book for a wide range of events where he will speak candidly on his hopes and aspirations for the future of AI. Enquire now!
