Kate Muir is an author, documentarian and filmmaker who is on a mission to demystify the very natural, common phenomenon that is Menopause. She believes that women face enough challenges daily that aren’t given due importance and is therefore using her platform to speak on them. She also produced “Davina McCall: Sex, Mind and the Menopause” for Channel 4 current affairs.
Working on her next book called “Everything You Need to Know About The Pill (but were too afraid to ask for)” she has produced “Davina McCall: The Truth About The Pill” – a documentary set to release in 2023 that investigates the contraceptive pill. Beyond these creations, Davina conducts workshops and lectures where she delves into these topics, so that the stigma and misinformation around them is combatted. She wants women’s issues to be highlighted rather than pushed under a rug. She has even liaised with local councils, police and spoken at or conducted workshops at companies like Credit Suisse, Bloomberg and Universities of Cambridge, Leicester, and Brighton to make menopause less bewildering. She even worked with MP Carolyn Harris to change the laws pertaining to menopause through The Menopause Roadshow at the Hay Literary Festival.
An activist for Time’s Up UK, she is known to fight for women’s rights, equality and opportunities and is keen on ending workplace bullying and harassment. To this effect she Kate has also made the effort to address topics like menopause, dementia and how hormone replacement therapy can protect women from diseases like Alzheimer’s in a Parliament Committee. A gifted author, she has written three novels, namely: “West Coast”, “Left Bank” and “Suffragette City” as well.
