Marc Koska is a famed inventor in the healthcare system, renowned for his invention of the non-reusable K1 auto-disable syringe, otherwise known as the one-use syringe. His invention revolutionised the combatting of blood-borne diseases, majorly helping citizens of India with his ‘one injection, one syringe’ message. The founder of Star Syringe and The SafePoint Trust, Marc is now booked as a speaker for a range of corporate and public events to share the story of his invention.
Back in the 1980s, Marc became fascinated by the rising problem of HIV transmission via the sharing and reuse of syringes. Passionate to change this, Marc set about inventing a syringe that would be used one time only. He founded Star Syringe in 1996, and launched the K1 non-reusable syringe to be used by healthcare professionals to ensure a sterile and safe injection for each patient. Marc also came to the realisation that people needed to be educated on the safe use of syringes, and so founded The SafePoint Trust in 2006 to spread awareness of the dangers of reusing needles.
Throughout his career in healthcare, Marc has campaigned globally about the importance of safe and hygienic needle usage. In particular, Marc has campaigned heavily in Africa, releasing a public service announcement across Indian radio stations, TV channels and cinemas that encouraged ‘one injection, one syringe’. Marc has also liaised with officials such as the Indian State Minister for Health, who ruled the use of ordinary syringes illegal. On a mission to minimise blood-borne disease, Marc and his SafePoint team aim to target their messages to Africa in the future. Marc is also the founder of APIJECT Ltd and ApiJect Systems Corp.
Dedicated to making injections and medicines safe for all, Marc is now booked as a speaker for a range of events to share the importance of single-use syringes and proper hygiene when using such medical implements. Spreading his message of ‘one injection, one syringe’, Marc is passionate to see a reduction in the number of blood transmitted diseases as well as educating countries where unsafe injections are heavily prevalent. When looking for a healthcare speaker with a unique and insightful story to tell, why not hire the inventor of the single-use syringe Marc Koska.
