After graduating with an MBA in Marketing, Omar began working for the first well-known company on his CV in 2002. Omar joined as an Associated Brand Manager at Campbell Soup Company, gaining invaluable experience of the fast-paced environment of a popular company. Beginning to forge his credible reputation as a businessman and brand manager, Omar was then appointed as an Assistant Brand Manager at Nike. Working tirelessly to shape the image of the brand, Omar worked for Nike for five years and was ultimately appointed Advertising & Content Manager.
Whilst working for Nike, Omar played a pivotal role in creating some of the companies most memorable advertising campaigns and helped to shape the brand as we know it today. In particular, Omar worked on the illustrious Nike + and Nike Sport Music campaign during his tenure. Building and running the Nike Sport Music campaign, Omar pioneered the first revenue-generating sports brand and record label deal. Working alongside the likes of Universal, Sony and Capitol, Omar was able to create impressive marketing campaigns that resulted in the sale of over five million tracks of music. Omar also was responsible for several of Nike’s most memorable TV commercials, which featured stars such as Kobe Bryant and Lebron James.
Leaving Nike in 2010, Omar was then appointed as Vice-Principal of Marketing for Beats By Dre. Working his way up the ladder, Omar was ultimately appointed as the Chief Marketing Officer of Beats By Dre and lead the company to huge success. Sitting at the helm of the marketing of the prestigious headphone brand, Omar was able to pioneer exponential financial growth for the company ultimately taking them from a $20 million company to a $1.1 billion company. Using the tactics of Ambush Marketing and several celebrity influencers, such as Kobe Bryant and Lebron James, Omar created some of the most memorable campaigns including PowerBeats and The Pill Beats products. With Omar’s expertise, the headphone company went from strength to strength, shortly becoming one of the most favoured brands of headphones amongst the general public, musicians and athletes alike.
Following the immense profit and success that Omar spearheaded for Beats By Dre, he was then appointed as the Vice President of Marketing at Apple. Once more sitting at the helm of one of the world’s largest companies, Omar oversaw the marketing and branding of the technology giant and helped the business to grow. Now, Omar dedicates his time to his own business, founding ØPUS United in 2018. ØPUS United is a collection of individuals such as musicians, athletes, executives and strategists who are experts on what it takes to create successful businesses. Throughout the course of his career, Omar has received great praise for his work. He has been recognised on the b, voted as one of the Most Innovative CMO’s by Business Insider and named a Brand Genius by Adweek.
