A highly regarded economist and journalist, Stephanie was appointed as the BBC Economics Editor in 2008 and held prior significant positions before joining Bloomberg as Senior Executive Editor. Stephanie obtained a first-class degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Balliol College, Oxford. She received an MPA from Harvard University. Earlier in her career, she joined the London Business School as an economist and subsequently the Institute for Fiscal Studies. She has served as the leading writer and economist at the Financial Times and as a speechwriter and Senior Advisor to US Secretary Lawrence H. Summers.
For BBC's Panorama, Stephanie presented a heralded investigation into Britain’s economic position by cycling the length of the country. Stephanie added to her reputation as she interviewed the likes of prime minister David Cameron for BBC’s News Night and was then appointed as the BBC Economics Editor in 2008. Later, she presented ‘Stephanomics’ on BBC Radio 4 and a series on BBC Two called Masters of Money. Her unique insight into economics then took her to J.P Morgan Asset Management as Chief Market Strategist for the UK and Europe. Her vast experience makes her a hugely popular business speaker.
Stephanie’s experience as the Senior Executive Editor at Bloomberg and head of Bloomberg Economics brings a unique level of understanding. She has received visiting fellowship from Nuffield College, Oxford and was also elected to join the governing council of the Royal Economic Society in 2007. In reward for her blog 'Stephanomics', Stephanie won the 2010 Harold Wincott Foundation's Award. She also won the foundation's 'Broadcaster of the Year' in 2011 and Political Studies Association's ‘Broadcaster of the Year’ in 2012.
