Growing up in Devon, Fell was taught to ride and shoot by Olympic pentathlon bronze medalist, Kate Allenby. She graduated from Brunel University with a degree in physiotherapy before enduring an early career that was initially packed with success as she left the 2003 World Junior Championships in Athens with two gold and one silver medal.
A series of sharp shin split injuries was nearly enough to make her give up when her funding was cut by UK Sport in 2006. Resiliently, she turned things around and decided to see it as a motivator to work harder. She returned to her childhood home and became employed in three jobs in order to fund her training.
2007 saw a successful period for Heather as she won her first bronze medal in a World Cup event in Moscow, she also won a silver at the 2007 European Championships in Riga and as well as a gold as part of the relay team. The European Championships also saw her reach the Olympic qualifying standard.
Only a year later, Heather competed in her first Olympic Games, the 2008 Bejing Olympic Games saw her win a silver medal in the women’s individual event nine seconds behind Lena Schoneborn of Germany. This was her first and only Olympics before she retired to begin a career within the media.
Fell is now competing in various Triathlon events, she finished 36th in her age category at the 2017 Ironman World Championships and became the European Sprint Triathlon Champion in the 35-39 category at the 2018 European Championships. Also now co-presenting videos on the Global Triathlon Network YouTube channel, Heather has become a monumental figure within the sporting event.
A keen promoter of positivity and can-do attitudes, Heather's next mission is to act as a role model for young people who participate in sport. Ideal for school and corporate events, Heather Fell is a versatile yet effective motivational speaker.
