A former data consultant at Cambridge Analytica, Christopher Wylie is famed as the whistleblower who outed the Facebook and Cambridge Analytica data scandal. Now highly respected for outing the unlawful behaviour of the company, Christopher uses his newfound fame as a public speaker to engage audiences with tales of the mistreatment of data and other various big data topics.
Back in 2018, Christopher was pivotal to the revelation of how Cambridge Analytica and Facebook had rampantly misused data. Having harvested the data of millions of Facebook users and their friends, Cambridge Analytica sold the data of American voters to aid in Donald Trump and Ted Cruz campaigns. Christopher outed the catastrophic data breach in a series of interviews with some of the world’s leading publications, including The Observer, The Guardian and The New York Times and he also gave evidence to the Digital, Cultural, Media and Sport Committee of the UK Parliament. His evidence confirmed the horrific mistreatment of data and bad practices that the firm was guilty of, ultimately resulting in the collapse of Cambridge Analytica in May 2018.
Christopher continues to use his expertise to inform audiences worldwide of big data issues. Before outing the firm Christopher was an employee of Cambridge Analytica, working on large data-driven campaigns fuelled by psychographic targeting for various elections and political events. Christopher knew of the unlawful workings of Cambridge Analytica right from the start, seeing them illegally take the data of 87 million people in a bid to develop a new way of performing psychographic microtargeting. Christopher ceased employment with Cambridge Analytica and founded Eunoia Technologies - a company that performed psychographic profiling to target social media users. He has also since been the Consulting Director of Research for H&M and authored Mindf*ck: Inside Cambridge Analytica's Plot to Break the World.
In his proficiency as a speaker, Christopher has secured countless speaking arrangements having previously spoken for the Web Summit, Forbes, The Royal Institute for International Affairs and The European Commission. Psychographic microtargeting, data management, data breaches, data mistreatment, the future of technology, cybersecurity- Christopher can deliver inspiring and intellectual talks about them all. Having engaged audiences of 15,000 people it is without a doubt that Christopher is an influential speaker, bringing a comprehensive understanding of the digital world to organisations worldwide.
