Michelle King is a talented diversity and inclusion professional, who is an expert on gender equality and workplace culture. For the last decade, Michelle has dedicated her research to fixing workplace cultures and eliminating inequality – now the author of the 2020 Axiom Business Book Awards Silver Medallist winning The Fix: How to Overcome the Invisible Barriers that are Holding Women Back at Work. Now also booked as a speaker for corporate events, Michelle covers topics such as how to practise inclusion, how inequality works at work, enabling the next generation of women leaders and gender denial.
Enjoying a successful corporate career, Michelle is highly knowledgeable in all aspects of human resources. Back in 2002, Michelle worked as a Human Resources Consultant for PwC, moving on to work as a Senior Human Resource Business Partner for Fonterra and a Human Resource Business Partner for Suncor Energy. She has also worked as a Workforce Strategy & Performance Manager, Human Resources Manager and Corporate Affairs Manager for BHP Billiton – expanding her knowledge to encompass all aspects of workplace culture and organisational behaviour. She has also been Head of Integrated Strategy for Gender Innovation and Senior Manager Development for Diversity and Employee Engagement for UN Women.
During her time with UN Women, Michelle helped to leverage innovation and accelerate the achievement of gender equity. A passionate advocate for female empowerment, Michelle has also acted as an Advisory Board Member of Girl Up for the United Nations Foundation. Michelle has also previously worked as the Director of Inclusion for Netflix, and is now the Managing Director of Equality Forward – a company she founded, dedicated to integrating inclusion holistically into businesses. In reward of her talents, Michelle has been the recipient of the 2019 Inspiring Innovator Award from Women Tech Founders, the 2020 Non-Obvious Book Award Longlist Selection and the Porchlight No.1 Business Bestseller 2020.
Named as a LinkedIn 2020 Top Voice for Equality, Michelle is now highly sought after as a diversity and inclusion speaker for corporate events. Previously, Michelle has spoken for the likes of Dior, FedEx, Amazon, Netflix, Travis Perkins and LinkedIn. She was also invited to deliver the TEDx talk, titled It’s Not You, It’s Your Workplace at TEDx Chelsea Park.
