Before committing her time to the British Fashion Council, Caroline started her career in PR and marketing. By 1998, Caroline was associated with the British Fashion Council after she was employed by the marketing consultants of London Fashion Week, Annette Worlsey-Taylor Associates. Four years later, Caroline founded Crush Communications. Acting as managing director, Caroline built extensive business knowledge, developing skills in business management and team leadership. Crush Communications was ultimately appointed as the press office for the British Fashion Council.
After acting as Public Relations Strategy Advisor to the British Fashion Council, Caroline was initially appointed as the Joint Chief Executive in 2009 before becoming the sole CEO of the British Fashion Council in 2012. Credited with attracting some of the most high-profile and luxury brands to London, such as the likes of Burberry, Pringle and Antonio Berardi, Caroline has made an immense impact on the British fashion industry during her time as CEO. Another testament to her business prowess, Caroline also plays a significant role in the organisation of London Fashion Week and the British Fashion Awards.
Caroline has worked tirelessly to develop and revolutionise the future of the British fashion industry. To mark the 25th anniversary of the organisation, Caroline was pivotal in the launch of the BFC legacy project which saw the introduction of The BFC Fashion Trust and the BFC/ Vogue Designer Fashion Fund. Caroline also launched Britain Creates, a project that worked with the London Organising Committee of the 2012 London Olympic Games. In addition, Caroline has overseen the launch of Fashion Film, Headonism and Rock Vault.
Her commitments to the British Fashion Industry have not gone unnoticed. She has been listed in Business of Fashion’s 500 list in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 as well as being noticed in the Evening Standard’s Power 1000 list in 2012, 2013 and 2017. Her expertise has also landed her a role as an Honorary Professor at Glasgow Caledonian University, and she has been bestowed with an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the Arts London. Her most prominent award was received in 2015, being appointed CBE during the 2015 New Year Honours in recognition of her services to the British fashion industry.
